WHAT
Leading in Leicester and Leicestershire is a Reaching People project. This project will provide a range of programmes and networks to enhance Leadership within the local Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) services.
Leading in Leicester and Leicestershire project is about:
Future proofing and developing leadership succession planning
Creating a more collegiate and trusting environment
Protecting the workforce in a demanding work environment
Investing in staff progression for their own benefit and that of the wider sector
Listening to stakeholders to ensure that services adapt appropriately to the wider context and particular needs of the area
Enabling local leaders to create a joined-up vision that can inspire and motivate others
WHY
Reaching People identified the need for building leadership capability not only for their member organisations but for the whole sector. We then undertook further research on local leadership and the needs. This work was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The research identified that local leadership capacity issues are continuing to grow with significant gaps at trustee level, with succession planning and capacity building for managers, and in the need to support community champions. It also identified how local coordinated leadership training will have a significant role in securing and sustaining quality local Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) services working together to make lasting change in the future.
Our vision is to enable our community and organisations be become resilient leaders and empowered future changemakers within the local community sector.

HOW
To make our vision a reality Reaching People have worked with partners over the last 2 years to successfully secure funding for the delivery of leadership training. The national lottery community funding has meant that Reaching People is now able to offer the Leading in Leicester and Leicestershire programme of leadership opportunities.
In true Reaching People style we have taken a collaborative approach to this project and bring to you some key programmes identified during our research.
Our programmes will be based on the Leading in Leicester and Leicestershire research findings, with an emphasis on the 3 elements identified locally through our research.
