Reaching People has been awarded a National Lottery Awards for All England – Environment grant to highlight the environmental impact of technological waste, encourage reuse, save devices from landfill reducing toxic waste.
Refurb IT not only extends the life of unused personal devices such as laptops, tablets and phones by refurbishing them, but we also get them to people who need them the most to bridge the digital divide.
To date, Refurb IT has diverted approximately 400kg of electronic waste from landfill and re-gifted over 180-devices. The new funding will help us to continue this critical work to grow a local green circular economy.

By significantly reducing the electronic waste load, businesses and individuals donating devices for the Refurb IT project are helping the environment, whilst also addressing the challenges of digital exclusion for people in Leicester.”
