Reaching People

Commitment to lasting change

Reaching People – Meet the Team

Jenny Hand

I began my dedicated role as CEO of Reaching People in July 2017, having previously held this position one day a week under a management contract with LASS (Leicestershire Aids Support Services), alongside my role as CEO of LASS.

I have a long track record of supporting and developing partnerships, setting up CEO support networks and leading on partnership and consortia bids.

I am committed to continuous improvement across the voluntary sector and in managing change to make a difference. I intend to continue to be a lead Ambassador for Reaching People and to raising our profile, promoting the value of partnership membership with and on behalf of others. I truly believe that this can and will make a difference to all of our current and future service users across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

I have an active interest in social policy, equality, partnership, leadership and management of change. I am an active member on many local and regional boards/groups and until recently was a regional member of the NCVO Assembly and Chair of One East midlands Health steering group.

Away from work, I am on the Board of Leicester Symphony Orchestra – where I spend some of my spare time playing the cello.

Sangeeta Patel

My background is in Human Resources, and my career started in London with international aid agencies – Save the Children and HelpAge International. I then moved overseas and started working as a consultant, again mostly for aid agencies, which is when I also started doing project based work. I was overseas for about 13 years, working in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Costa Rica and Canada. In Canada I worked with Canadian aid agencies. In my last position I was one of the first managers on a start-up project that was implemented across six countries. We were literally starting the project from scratch: we didn’t even have an office! It was a five-year project, working with disadvantaged young people to move them into employment, business, or further education and training. I then moved back to Leicester for family reasons.

Sarah Richards

I work part time, and have been at Reaching People since October 2016. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and have over 25 years’ experience working in finance, initially for a leading accounting practice and for the last 12 years in business which has included working for a number of charities/not for profit companies.

I believe in Reaching People’s values and consider that working in partnership with other charities brings strengths that can only benefit the voluntary sector.

In my own time, I Chair an Academy Trust which has sponsored a school and leads a Teaching School and I am commited to improving educational standards for all children. When not working I enjoy playing tennis and I’m hoping to complete a Parkrun this year!

Shafinaz Patel

Working with Reaching People since May 2018. My position with Reaching People is a perfect role for me as it varies in workload and is constant. From dealing with contracts (supporting new and existing members), promoting members and the Reaching People organisation, as well as supporting with in house admin, projects and leading on training. There are so many opportunities and so much to learn and do, and with Reaching People we can all succeed!

Anjana Mistry

Mary Collier

I joined Reaching People in April 2019, as Project Co-ordinator for Leicester Food Bank Plus. This pilot project, which is provided in partnership with Feeding Britain and Feeding Leicester, enables people in food crisis to have access to information and advice at the food bank they are attending.
I have worked in the information, advice and advocacy field for several years, and am continually inspired by the transformational nature of high quality, timely and accessible information and advice provision. I am very excited to be working on this innovative project and to have this opportunity to work in partnership with local community food projects to empower and support people who are experiencing food poverty.
