Reaching People – Meet the Team

Ruth Rigby

Ruth has worked across housing, health and social care, with complex partnerships and within the voluntary and statutory sector for the last 30 years. Starting off in VCS and then local authority Welfare Rights services, she earned the coveted right to join the Facebook group I parked my car on King Richard III’s head whilst based at Greyfriars.

Ruth worked at Care & Repair England and in social care commissioning in Leicestershire before leading the Supporting People programme in Nottinghamshire and joining CLG as a Specialist Advisor. With a commitment to strong communities and their preventative effect, she returned to the voluntary sector in 2013, establishing and leading Healthwatch Nottingham before her relocation to Leicester saw her head up the Leicester Ageing Together partnership programme

Ruth currently works across LAT and Reaching People. She is proudest of overseeing the development of new homelessness supported accommodation settings in Nottinghamshire and establishing the Community Connector team in East Leicester who did fantastic work during Covid lockdown. She remains optimistic about the opportunities presented by Social Prescribing to both the NHS and VCSE and is passionate about digital inclusion.

Sangeeta Patel

I am the Project Manager for Moneywise Plus and have been in the role since June 2018.  Moneywise Plus recognises that financial and digital skills are essential to dealing with many day to day, and longer term challenges. I work with an expert and committed partnership of organisations and a team of advisers passionate about helping individuals to learn these life and work skills, more confidently deal with the challenges and achieve their goals.

I previously worked in human resources and project management, mainly for international aid agencies in the UK and overseas, until family and Leicester drew me back.

I work part time, and have been at Reaching People since October 2016. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and have over 25 years’ experience working in finance, initially for a leading accounting practice and for the last 12 years in business which has included working for a number of charities/not for profit companies.

I believe in Reaching People’s values and consider that working in partnership with other charities brings strengths that can only benefit the voluntary sector.

In my own time, I Chair an Academy Trust which has sponsored a school and leads a Teaching School and I am committed to improving educational standards for all children. When not working I enjoy playing tennis and I’m hoping to complete a Parkrun this year!

Friday Chidlow

I am project manager for Health+.  Health+ has 2 years of funding from NHS Charities Together.  Health+ aims to maintain or improve the health and wellbeing of older people, addressing social isolation and loneliness, promoting health literacy and self-care. I am a peer capacity builder for the Good Things sharing best practice and participating in co-design of their programmes and resources.

In March I completed working at Leicester Ageing Together as digital inclusion project manager.  The project was funded by the National Lottery and it helped over 50s in Leicester to build their digital skills confidence. We developed holistic evaluation and implemented a learn and change approach which meant as we gathered specific participant feedback, we adapted the project to deliver on participants’ specific needs.

Previously I worked at the University of York where I managed the creation of the University’s digital skills framework and I established and managed an annual staff training event open to all professional staff employed there.
